It all began in 1912 with an idea, courage and a pioneering spirit. This resulted in Emil Hoffman founding Cyklop in Cologne, Germany.

1921

First patent for metal clip seals.

1925

First combined strapping tool for tensioning and sealing.

1964-1975

Introduced the strapping machine for PP strap with seal, and integrated conveying and packaging systems.

1976-1981

PET strap introduction and our first fully-automatic stretch wrapping machines introduced.

1989

Purchased Zucchelli, an Italian tape dispenser manufacturer.

2003

First battery run hand tool for single handed operation.

2014

Introduction of the Italian-made Smart line of strapping machines.

2015

Introduction of coding and marking as an offering from Cyklop. Purchased Ligotech, a manufacturer of strapping machines, and acquired Flexfil, an elastic yarn manufacturer as a reinforcement of our binding machine category.

2020

Took majority control of EurElectronics, a manufacturer of electrical cabinets, which allowed for more integrated solutions within the packaging value chain.

2022

Reinforcement of wrapping category with the acquisition of Pieri Srl. Acquired Marchetti Packaging Srl to grow our taping and case erecting category.

2023

Acquired InkJet, Inc., which manufactures ink for coding and marking and sells printers and labelers. For Cyklop, this acquisition is the re-entry of its packaging solutions into the United States.

2024

Growth continues with the acquisition of Polaris, a Canadian distributor, and Needham, a UK and Ireland based ink and laser coder manufacturer. Cyklop now manufactures ink for coding and marking on three continents.

2025

Launch of rebranding and new global websites. The branding is a visual representation of partnering with our customers to help increase reliability and efficiency. The new website, translated and customized in 20 languages, is meant to help website visitors find the solutions they are looking for, and learn ways to better their packaging and coding processes.

Cyklop has always been one of the most recognized brands in the packaging industry and remains so today, but many people don’t realize the breadth of products Cyklop offers today. Strapping has been a staple in the business since the beginning, but today, we provide solutions to customers with coding and marking, case erecting, taping, wrapping, and binding and bundling.

Cyklop has 15 production facilities in Spain, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland, Thailand, Brazil, China and the U.S. Plus direct representation in 20 countries, and we serve a total of 50 countries via agents and distribution partners. The more than 1,200 employees worldwide are proud to help customers achieve their packaging and coding goals.
